"The idea of an advisor telling a student who just received an associate's degree to next enroll in a Ph.D. program seems farcical. But, leaders in higher education act similarly when it comes to analytics by embarking to create predictive models without first building a baseline level of understanding around data and analytics." It’s no surprise that Google, now part of Alphabet, loves data, and the company’s execs frequently share the revelations they find, such as their insights on mobile web use. But some of us would be surprised to discover that this unicorn company often turns its eye inward, analyzing information about its people to help improve its operations.
A group of employees from Google’s People Operations section, the equivalent of an HR department, decided to complete an analysis to answer one question: What makes a Google team effective?
Here’s a look at their approach and the startling revelations they had along the way. Via The Learning Factor

"We’ve all noticed the rise in security and CCTV across public places in the UK. But what do you think about introducing these into schools? According to a report by the Times Education Supplement (TES), teachers at two unnamed schools in the UK are to trial body cameras in the classroom in a bid to act as a deterrent and eliminate disruption." DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) Attacks come in a number of different flavours, they weaponize data and can inflict severe financial harm Via TechinBiz
rodrick rajive lal's insight:
DDoS or Distributed Denial of Service is the Liver Cirrhosis of the Internet according to this article! It is caused by deliberated slowing down of traffic on the internet by botnets or programmes that send too many requests to your blog. Sometime back there was a case where thousands of internet-enabled devices shot off instructions on the internet simultaneously, thus slowing it down. One wonders if shifting completely to digitisation or digital payments would be a good idea! Is it a good idea to do away with paper cheques and instead go for digital cheques? What would happen if you wanted to sell your stock before stock prices fell and then you became a victim of DDos? The age of the IOT has left us open to numerous vulnerabilities for which we do not have enough protection.

"The spaces in a digital classroom can be personalized or anonymous, static or fixed, open or closed, responsive or mute. Tis the season for stress. The holidays are crazy enough, but add in year-end deadlines and sales goals, performance reviews, and the news of yet another raise not given, and you can already feel your blood pressure rise. But there’s good news: You can still stay healthy, even when work is insane. It’ll just take a little extra effort.
“When stress takes over, often the first things to go are the ones we need the most–sleep, water, exercise, whole nutritious foods,” laments nutritionist Brigitte Zeitlin. “And that can actually compound the issue, leaving you less equipped to handle the stress well.”
Here’s exactly what you can do to keep that from happening before work gets really crazy. Via The Learning Factor
