“Are Liars Ethical?: On the Tension between Benevolence and Honesty,” the authors looks at deception a little differently than people have in the past. They look at deception that sometimes can be helpful to other people. They typically think about deception as selfish deception: I lie to gain some advantage at the expense of somebody else. And we typically think of honesty as something that might be costly to me, but helpful to others.

After watching the video within the link above, I really began to see the larger picture of ethics and morals. Today in class we had a debate about what we deem as morally and ethically viable.
The question " is every lie " a sin "?" is very tricky to answer for some, but after watching the video I can see where they are coming from in constructing their answer.
Deception and manipulation are two key influencers in the world of media and PR. Some publics may perceive those of us who work in the PR field as " manipulators" who want nothing but to twist the truth and make everyone do what we say.
We might embellish once in a while, but we aim to always remain ethical and moral for ourselves, our clients, and our publics.
