MoodleMoot Australia 2015: The Power of Face-to-face Learning with Moodle [Keynote] by Don Hinkelman

Don Hinkelman is a Professor at the Sapporo Gakuin University and Moodler since version 1.2. Here at MoodleMoot Australia 2015 he presents his keynote on Blended Learning Ecologies: The Power of Face-to-face Learning with Moodle.

Don's work involves teaching EFL and intercultural communication at Sapporo Gakuin University in northern Japan. His research work includes "Blending Technologies for Second Language Classrooms" and within the Moodle community, Don is a moderator of the Moodle for Language Teaching site, and have helped develop over ten modules, blocks and course formats.

MoodleMoot Australia 2015 presentations announced

The list of accepted presentations for the upcoming Moodlemoot Australia is now available on the Moot website: https://mootau15.moodlemoot.org/mod/data/view.php?id=12

There are over 45 sessions slated for the event, designed to provide you a more limited choice during the Moot so you’re not forced to miss out on sessions of interest which are running concurrently. The three day event in July will take place in Melbourne.

Among the presentation titles which you might find interesting:

* Designing for who? The conflict between student usability and learning analytics (big data)
* Making the most of Moodle quizzes
* Using CSS (and Javascript) to improve the design and format of Moodle courses

Moodle for the next ten years | Martin Dougiamas at #MootDE17

Key points from Martin’s presentation during MoodleMoot Germany 2017are as follows:

• Moodle 3.4 will focus more on improving the Usability, Accessibility and include the improved Calendar project (Moodle Users Association) and combining Participants/enrolments page.
• Moodle HQ will start a new EU subsidiary with first office in Barcelona.
• Moodle HQ will launch a new Moodle foundation in Brussels.
• Moodle Mobile App will have a 100% support for all Moodle core activities and resources from Moodle 3.4.
• Moodle Desktop app similar to the Moodle mobile app for desktop users.
• Ability to copy a whole Moodle site from one server to another.
• New certification system for Moodle instead of the existing MCCC which will be launched later this year.
• Improvements to the MoodleCloud platform. • Moodle Academy – the Moodle based MOOC platform.
• Moodle Community 2.0 – A new Professional development space for educators/learners, central moodle account, integrates open repositories, crowdfunding tools for developing new open content & sell your content and small services only.

This Moot was held between 21 – 23 June at Mannheim University and the three-day event as full of workshops, panel sessions, presentations and keynotes as Moodlers shared their story and latest innovation with the learning platform.
