Back in September I wrote about and made a video about how I'm using Google Forms as a sign-in/sign-out sheet for my classroom. Some of my colleagues are doing the same thing. One of my colleagues, Erin, had the good idea to create QRs code for the forms that students use the most and post them on the classroom wall.

Earlier this week I published a video and blog post about how to share Google Forms through QR codes. In response to that video a follower of my Facebook page asked for some help sharing Google Slides presentations via QR code. Students were having trouble viewing the slides she had shared via QR code so she reached out to me for help.

This fall there seems to be a renewed interest in QR codes, at least amongst readers of this blog. In just the last two weeks I've answered a half dozen emails with questions related to QR codes. QR codes can make it easy to get all of your students onto the same webpage, into the same document, or viewing the same file relatively quickly.

Vocal Recall uses QR codes to store a link to your audio feedback in a fully end to end encrypted manner. The codes can then be attached via sticky labels directly to a student’s work and the student can retrieve the feedback using an QR reader. This process saves time, is easily evidenced, allows for greater depth of feedback and engages students with a personal touch. In all trials students have much preferred this form of feedback stating that it is easier to understand and learn from their mistakes in a way that a short, written comment cannot achieve. QR Codes are a fantastic way to take students directly to a website and I’ve shared tons of ways I like to use them! If you want your students to find a picture without doing a Google Image search, it’s easy to create a QR code that takes students directly to a photograph.
