A survey finds that more educators have devices in their classrooms than ever before.
Nataliacp's curator insight, March 11, 2017 9:44 PM
Based on the findings of a Michigan State University study, learners are more productive and attentive with the use of technological devices during the development of the lesson. It shows that a student has superior outcomes in English/language arts, writing, math and science. However, I consider that we need to take into account our context. Technology can offer better results in the learning process , but it is necessary create innovatice and useful strategies that can help students that do not have the opportunity to be in contact with technological devices.

Why Access to Computers Won't Automatically Boost Children's Grades

Why Access to Computers Won't Automatically Boost Children's Grades | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it

"Filling classrooms to the brim with computers and tablets won’t necessarily help children get better grades. That’s the finding of a new report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)."

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

Just as typewriters don't make students better writers, computers won't make students better readers. What computers facilitate is increased productivity, easy access to resources, and maybe if used correctly, increased enthusiasm for doing work.

How can educators best incorporate apps in the classroom?

How can educators best incorporate apps in the classroom? | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it

"EdTech: Focus on K-12 solicited input from a teacher and a researcher about how best to find, select and introduce new educational applications to classrooms, including apps for communication, assessment and classroom organization."

Ely Córdoba's curator insight, November 23, 2016 12:41 PM
Teachers can implement different apps in the classroom in order to facilitate some activities or contents. Exist apps to evaluate some topics or simply to practice and to learn, so it is important that teachers search and choos the best app for their classes to support teaching and enhance their lesson plans. One suggestion is that teachers can introduce the new apps to their classrooms with the security of that they choose apps that do not require much personal information from student users. This short article help us to think in other alternatives to improve our classes and take the risk of change the teaching process with the implementatio of different tools.
Jessica Álvarez's curator insight, November 26, 2016 11:16 AM
I love this article!
I always consider very meaningful the introduction of new educational applications to classrooms, including apps for communication, assessment and classroom organization in order to innovate and being closer to the students.
How we do it?
According to Rachelle Poth, a Spanish teacher  in Pennsylvania, suggests that as a starting point we can identify a problem or inefficiency in the classroom and then thinking about how an app might solve it! On the other hand,  we should think about possibilities and test the chosen apps to be aware of their effectiveness in the classroom.

Moreover, it is crucial to keep in mind the data security as teachers, as mentioned Robert Craven, who is in charge to have centralized approvals for classroom use of educational applications, we should ensure that the app that we are going to use in the classroom do not require much personal information from student users.

Dare to use applications by taking into account the data security and enjoy using the apps to support teaching and enhance the lesson plans.
